Wide Plank's Commitment to the Environment
Environmentally Sound Procurement

Wide Plank International is committed to being a good steward of our forest resources. Our woods are never harvested from endangered species or clear cut forests.

This commitment is manifested in how our woods are acquired. Materials for Wide Plank International are selectively harvested from private landowners. For example, a landowner may have upward of 150 acres that he wishes to selectively harvest. A properly harvested old growth tree has reached maturity. If the tree goes beyond maturity, it will begin to die or "rot" on the stump. At this stage, not only is the tree not usable for timber, but it is crowding the sunlight and growth for smaller trees.

Therefore, by harvesting timber properly, not only are the trees used as a valuable resource (at maturity but before they die on the stump), but this also allows smaller trees to reach maturity.
