The Wide Plank Commitment To The Environment
Environmentally
Sound Procurement
Wide Plank International is committed to being a good steward to our forests. Our woods are never harvested from endangered species or clear cut from forests.
This commitment is manifested in how we acquire our woods by selectively harvesting from private landowners. For example, an old growth tree is selectively harvested when the tree has reached maturity. Should the tree remain in the forest beyond maturity it will begin to die or “rot” on the stump. When beyond maturity the tree is not suitable for timber and it crowds sunlight prohibiting growth for smaller trees.
Therefore, by harvesting timber properly, we ensure that the trees are used as a valuable resource and contribute to the forests ability to allow smaller trees to reach maturity.
